BJTAHBT up-conversion mixer design
I would like to design an up-conversion mixer using BJT@HBT for very high frequency say the LO about 30GHz. Can anyone expertise out there help me how to start designing the device? What is the very first step that I should consider? What is the best simulator can be used?
Thanks in advance
1st u need to bias the HBT in the Peak FT current.
design the input matching network
Select ur load of the mixer

Thanks Khouly... that advise really help me a lot... as far as I'm concern I should design the matching network at both input and output utilizing txn line concept right? Pls correct me if i'm wrong. Thanks again.
Dear Khouly,
One more thing I would like to confirm, I suppose to use HBT with transition frequency,ft of at least 90GHz for fc=30GHz which ft should be at least 3x greater than fc... again correct me if i'm wrong..
Thanks

hello
at 60 GHz u can use TL or passive elements , if ur process supports MiM caps , and spiral inductors u can use them as well
yes it is better to have ft 3 times greater the ur operating frequency
