Why Current mode amplifier?

I recently started to research on Current mode amplifier(CMA).
I now know that CMA is good specially when vdd is very low,
because it doesn't need to worry about voltage headroom due to very low
input impedance

but the problem right now is where is this needed?
which part? after mixer? after LNA? LNA with CMA?
I need a target but I can't figure it out, because there are not a lot of papers about this..ㅠ.ㅠ

I think, the most suitable place for CMA's in baseband circuitry, where they can replace traditional OTA's and OPAMP's.
