Ring hybrid and power divider for use of two TRX one antenna
My first post here, i saw here are some specialist
I read much about ring hybrids (ring coupler) and wilkinsons power divider. I want to connect two TRX to one antenna. Both radios works on same band (VHF) with a power of abt. 50W.
In theory i can connect them with a ring hybrid. Antenna on gate 1, TRX on gates 2 and 4. But what to connect on gate 3? A dummy load? Nothing?
I think dummy load, but the half of the transmitting power goes to the antenna, other half to the dummy load.
So i go and thing again.
Connect the antenna with the help of a power divider (wilkinson) to gates 1 and 3.
Should this solution work?

There is the problem with isolation. Enough power could leak from one transmitter to the other to damage the other receiver.
I would suggest not doing this.
Thank you for the answer. So 30dB isolation should be possible i think. Is this not enough?
How much power would loop back if i use two 1/4 lambda antennas with 1/4 lambda spacing?
You have three problems. One is that half of the transmitted power is lost in the third port termination resistor. The other is that the received signal is split between the two transceivers. The most serious problem is that if there is any reflection from the antenna, such as a fault) the returned watts is split between the two transceivers.
You would be much better off using two different antennas, each connected to just one of the transceivers. They should be spaced a large distance apart to reduce coupling.

why dont you use and active circulator instead of an hybrid?
