Hi,
I am new to the forum. So Hi to everyone.
I am curious about balanced power amplifiers. I know they are very useful and have several advantages like 3dB more power, odd harmonic cancellation, matching advantage etc. I am not sure why these advantages are there. I would really like to understand the working of this architecture. Why does the power increase by 3dB? Why use 90° hybrid couplers etc.
I would really appreciate some insight into this. Any resource you know of which can help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you...

Hi
Try get a hold of "Microwave Transistor Amplifiers" by Gonzalez. This will answer some of your questions.
Or google balanced amplifiers.
Regards
Thanks...
I will look for the book. I tried google but couldn't find specifics...
the Gain increases about more than 2dB, but less than 3dB, because the insertion loss of the hybrid.
But OIP3 can almost increases about 3dB. And VSWR of the output is very good.
Why can cancel odd harmonics, you can simply calculate it in math. Because for odd harmonics, the phase is about 180deg different.
