need guidence in Microstrip antenna
i m designing a microstrip antenna,
my specifications are FR-4,h=1.6, L=60mm, W=55.
i have used micrstrip line feeding and i m deigning using IE3d
i m getting gain =5.21dbi, directivity 6.10dbi, radiation efficinecy is 100% and antenna effi is more than 90%.
its giving very good bandwidth of 33% between 3Ghz and 4 Ghz and giving three resonant frequencies between 3 and 4Ghz.
i want to enhance gain more than 6 dbi. so can anybody guide me in enhancing gain.

Any antenna gain is achieved by designing it so that it directs the electromagnetic wave in a desired direction. With a microstrip antenna you designed you have now a single radiating element. Achieving a better directivity is possible by making several such radiators and feeding them as a matrix or an array.
Another way can be to add directors to it like is done in Yagi arrays. You can also use your antenna as a primary radiator of a parabolic dish antenna, or, use a tuned conductive envelope to build a "back-fire" antenna. You can also use a dielectric rod to improve directivity- and gain.

what kind of feeding technique are you using.looking at what you have said,the patch is on a lossy dielectric,so i would re check my simulations just to make sure if the bandwidth is right on,normally what you get of an microstrip is few percent of its central frequency, unless braodbanding techniques have been used.. one way enhancing your gain is to use an array of elements or you can even use parasitics or a multiple slotted patch can also be tried,if that suits your requirement.here's an example of High Gain Multiple stacked patch antenna.

but i was not able to proceed beyond just making a rectangular shape on m grid
i was not able to cut the slot and insert port
help me with some steps

1st tell me what kind of feeding you want to use.
do you want microstrip line feeding or the coaxial feeding or apertur couple or the proximity feeding.
i will tell you by step by step procedure of how to cut slots in the patch and i will tell you also how to feed the antenna in IE3D
