How to Choose a UHF BJT Mixer

Hey when choosing a BJT mixer should I choose one that maximises gain at the IF frequency or the RF/LO frequencies?

There are some BJT transistors that have been designed for Mixer application only.Their characteristics are optimized for mixers.
Look at NXP's wide-band transistors..;
