Wireless Distance Proportional Signal Circuit Help
What i need is clearly explained in this diagram
Click on it

Now, What i need is two circuits A and B
As show in the diagram B must be a emitter or whatever
A must get the signals from B and must display (or output a value to Micro Processor) which is proportional to the distance between A and B.
So when i move the circuit B .. the value in A must change accordingly
I need your suggestions and help
I am a complete Noob in this, I am from Computers department
Hoping for help
Thanks :)
( Sorry , If I posted in wrong forum )
Over what distance do you want to measure "X"? Radio waves are reflected from objects so they would distort the signal received, though in principle calibrating the signal strength received against distance "X" would work.

15 feet range thanks
Hoping for someone to help :\
For determinig distances up to `15 feet, ultrasonic and laser range meters are on the market. Using radio waves is possible but they do not allow to use a narrow beam like light and ultrasound, so surrounding objects disperse the emitted wave and the receiver then receives a delay-spread array of responses. This is the reason radio waves are not preferred for this kind of ranging.
If you wish to experiment, you can use :
- a FMCW radar in which microwaves or UHF waves are frequency-modulated; the reflected signal is mixed (multiplied, correlated) with the emitted signal; the result is a beat-frequency, usually audio, proportional to the distance between the emitter/receiver and a target reflector. An example of a FMCW radar is an airplane height indicator.
- A set of two transceivers, again at UHF or microwaves; one emits a RF pulse, on the other side this pulse is received and returned. In the receiver located next to the transmitter that emitted the pulse, the pulse is received after a delay proportional to propagation time. The pulse traveled the distance twice, plus you have to remove the delay caused in the remote transceiver. Similar systems were "Tellurometers", now replaced by laser ranging devices.
- there are other radio methods like phase evaluation, etc. But all have been replaced by the recent laser or ultrasound ranging devices that are better and cheaper.
What if there are two Fixed points A1 and A2 .. So at the same instance Distance from both must be determined
I like "what if"s very much!
The answer you can get by experiments. I have explained above why radio waves are NOT preferred for short ranging in a poor environment. Try it for yourself!
