mushroom EBG integrated with microstrip antenna

I use CST 2008 and i have a microstrip antenna, simulated with the transient solver and Integration after mushroom EBG to see if they improve the performance of the antenna. but don′t got improvement, which is very strange because I have band gap at the resonance frequency.
when EBG i simulate microstrip antenna + EBG have to set something different in settings, configuration ? when I simulate alone microstrip antenna? I'll put on my projects.
someone can help me?
