PCB substrate material for 20W RFPA
Thank you in advance.
Lanny
Isola FR406 is a good material and it will work fine for this frequency range.
Thicker substrate behave better over higher temperature and power dissipation.
Is there any equivalent option to FR406? I have a hard time to get a sample. I have talked to the OEM rep and he promised to send me some samples. That was a couple days after above my post. Then there is a salesperson called and no follow through. I don't need any freebies and just want to buy some samples to check it out and the distributors wanted a few hundred panels to start with. The PCB fab rep can't get me any but direct me to Isola. It starts getting ridiculous the way this company operated. I only deal with Arlon & Roger before and they are nowhere close to this bureaucratic incompetency.
Have you seen the (Park Electrochemical Corp.) Nelco N4000 family of board substrates? One of our cost-conscious customers fabricated 2.3 and 2.6 GHz RF boards (for WiMAX and other OFDM uWave systems) using that particular blend of FR4 material. I notice also that a few board fabrication houses offer the N4000 and variations as their substrate material.
