i'm going to design a bow tie antenna, its substrate height is 3mm ,flare angle is 80 degrees and i want to divide the bow tie into wires of 20 degrees , i want to know its impedance so i can match it with a coaxial cable, and how can i do it ?
please reply
we cant calculate the impedance of bowtie
how can i know if the 75 ohm coaxial cable is a good matching.
simulate the structure in a Full Wave EM solver to determine the complex radiation impedance of the antenna
Have Fun
u can design bowtie by antenna design kit
like tallface65, use an EM solver: Momentum in Agilent ADS, or AXIEM in Microwave Office.
I suggest you to download eMgine software from this site and there is a template for bow tie antenna using copper. While simulating this, smith chart will be plotted and u'll be able to know the impedance. Hope u get an idea by looking at it.
