how to design a quarter monopole with coax feed using hfss13?

Hello every1!
I want to design an electrical monopole of length 9mm at 3.4Ghz frequency. Its a quarter wave monopole.I am facing problem while making probe because height of my ground plane is zero, so what optimum length i should select for probe. I am using HFSS 13.

Your best bet is to get hold of the Ansys website and download their Antenna Design Kit. It's a free download; in it you will find several worked examples and monopole antennas are included. You can then specify the antenna parameters (ground plane dimensions, centre frequency of 3.4GHz etc.) and it will automatically generate a model with the correct size of air box/rad boundary. You can then experiment with the port dimensions to suit.

Have a look at http://www.ansoft.com/hfssantennadesignkit/

Thanks! I have already tried this. My monopole is not planar. I have to use it as a feed to another dielectric cylinder. So its a hybrid monopole dielectric resonator antenna with a coax feed

The ADK does give several options for monopoles, not just planar: my approach would be to design a true monopole antenna at 3.4GHz comprising of a cylindrical or square cross-section rod protruding up from a ground plane which is several lambda in diameter. Once that is working I would then clad the radiator with a dielectric cylinder and adjust for resonance etc. as needed. I am not clear what you are trying to design, but that doesn't matter - the ADK will give you a starting point which is close to optimal and you can then experiment with it to see how changing port dimensions etc. affect the results.
