pin diode model ads
Thanks.
In fig 5 of this paper there is an ADS model of the PIN diode Agilent HSMP-3810:

Hi,
I have made a PIN diode model in ADS with the help of this PDF. In Figure 13, a Simple model of the MACOM MAP202 PIN diode is given. but my problem in before FIGURE 14 they said they are applying 20uA for minimum currrent but in the FIGURE 14 they applied Ibias= 0.02. which I think 20000 uA. can anyone tell me what to do?
Ibias=0.02, I think it's 0.02mA.
but I think in ADS to use mA unit you have to mention it. or else it will take the A ratting. isn't it?
IN ADS put a model, then input the parameters for the model.
How I can check a PIN diode model is working or not?
Has the world of microwave engineering sunk to the point where engineers no longer know how to test and verify that the models they are given are accurate for their specific application and frequency range? Or are the new crop of engineers content to act like baby birds, hoping the Agilent mom will come buy and drop a tasty worm into their beaks?
why the rudeness... for all one knows this person can just be a new grad, or even a student. This is a friggin forum where everyone is discussing shared interest. If you are not willing to help, then at least do not bash people.
If you want to know whether the model is useful, just make a test setup in simulation and see what happens. You may start with the DC characteristic (forward voltage at some diode current). When this looks OK, just simulate the insertion loss in a typical setup (for example 50 Ohms source and 50 Ohms load at varying DC current). You may also simulate the insertion loss when reversed biased to assess the capacitance of the PIN diode.
I don't know ADS, but in my PSPICE there is no good PIN diode model. Just to verify switching action in a circuit, I play with the transit time (diffusion capacitance) and junction capacitance parameters and set bulk resistance by hand to get the datasheet's Rs at certain forward current. If course you need to know how the model functions, otherwise your actions will not converge.
