Pin diode in reconfigurable antennas
I am working on reconfigurable antennas.I have simulated one design with switching element as pin diode.
It is easy to switch the pin diode during designing of antenna.
How can we switch the pin diode after fabrication of antenna?Do we need any extra supply for that.
If we add some supply to change biasing of pin diode,it will lead to a concept of multiple feeds to antenna.
Can you please help me for that.
Thank You
You can try to supply bias through the feedline, and separate DC/RF using L and C as needed.
Does reconfigurable antenna using pin diodes always require DC bias voltage?
If we are designing antenna at Radio Frequencies then what is the need of giving DC supply or using the concept of DC voltage?
Thank You
Do you understand how PIN diode switching works? No bias, no switching. Why use a PIN diode if you can't switch?
S_B look at BiasTee concept in RF, how to supply a component which requires DC in a RF environment
Pretty much.
FET device can be used like the PIN diodes, with the advantage that you can control their ON/OFF nature on the gate, and not need a bias network.
In some rare cases, you can turn the devices ON/OFF with a laser diode/light
