Help to solve the two detected errors in ADS2009.

Dear Sir,
I am facing two errors in ADS2009 simulation software
1) When I created the schematic and ran it, later I added the DC annotation browsing the Simualtion> DC annotation. It was showing the following error

"Either dc analysis was not performed in the last analysis of the design or dc data of swept analysis cannot be bad"

Can you help anybody this when I added DC annotation, I got the above error, please help me how to remove it

second error
2)When I created the subcircuit using data item in ADS2009, I got the following error

" While evaluating expression 'SNP1.CMP1.All'
File 'C:\uses\public\non_lineardeviceanglov_prj//data/ nonlinearanglov_1.ds ' read error. Unable to read required data from the touchstone file. Please ensure .Error detected while trying to read the data file"

Please can you any body give to remove these two errors. Here with I am attaching the file

looking at the attached pic, I can say that you must connect two 50ohm terminations to the in/out ports and a GND to the common port of the s2p block.
the second error might be due to the file format (not being in the touchstone format) or read access to the directory.

1-In s-parameter simulations, DC analysis is not perfomed.S-parameters are small signal parameters and DC Operating Point therefore is not considered.Add a DC analysis controller to do that..
2-"ds" suffix isn't belonged to Touchstone format, it's a basically ADS Dataset suffix. In n-port properties dialog, change format from Touchstone to Dataset. It will work..

BigBoss Sir,
1) Point 1 is not cleared, what you said, I didn't understand , can you make it clearly tell me sir, what you said on DC analysis. Sometimes when I include DC it will show automatically voltage and current on the circuit. Sometime it will show above said error. Error is "Either dc analysis is not performed in the last of the design.............
2) About second point, I followed as you said, changed the file format as dataset. Once again , it is showing the following error.
Dataset C:/Users/Public/nonlineardeviceanglov_prj/./data/nonlinearanglov_2.ds is not accessible,it might not exist, it might be corrupted, it might be newer-format.dataset file, or file permission may not allow it to be accessed. I am attaching that file .

S-prameter simulation doesn't cover DC simulation, you should do that DC simulation seperately by adding DC sim block.
If this file is not accesible, please check your file out its path, and name etc.

BigBoss Sir,
DC Simulation , I got it. Initially I disabled the S-parameter block, then simulate it by choosing the DC annotate. Voltage and current appear on the circuit.
But I couldn't get the second problem subcircuit creation using dataitem. Can you help me to solve second problem CREATION OF SUBCIRCUIT using data item.

Are you sure that the last simulation you did to generate the dataset was an s-parameter simulation and NOT the DC analysis. The dataset file only holds the last completed simulation's data for that schematic and not all previous simulations. If you have two separate simulation controllers in one schematic you cannot assume the order in which these simulations were run. Deactivating others and running each simulation separately is always the simplest approach.

Another option would be to place, in the original schematic, an SPOutput item. This is found on the Simulation-S_Param palette along with the other s-parameter controllers etc. Then when an S-Parameter simulation is run it automatically saves the s-parameter data to the specified s-parameter file. This data persists and does not get overwritten if a DC simulation is subsequently run. It does get updated each time an s-parameter simulation is run. If you did this though you would obviously need to set the S2P item back to Touchstone and reference the .s2p file instead of the .ds file.

RealAEL Sir,
I got it , how to create subcircuit using DATA ITEM s2p . I am sorry to say this that sometimes I will get it , sometimes I will not get . I followed as you said, got it. But what is my problem is.
1) When I open ADS 2009 , choose the option of create new project file and created the new project file with some name.
2) Now I created the new circuit with some name and simulate it and save it , later disable the s-parameter block.
3) In the same project, I will create new design with some name , drag DATA ITEM s2p and place it on the workspace. Now I click on the "s2p" block and I will choose file format as dataset .When I browse for searching previous saved file that file is not at all appearing. It will show the new "untitled1.ds", but when I open design, previously saved file is appearing, saved file is not appearing when I click on s2p file for creating subcicuit that "untitled.dsn" is appearing. It happens few times, remaing time previously saved files are appearing. How I have to over come to get the previously saved file for the creating subcircuit using s2p file.

In ADS 2009 it is possible to open a schematic window, create a design and simulate it before saving the design. When it is saved, if a name has not been defined, ADS prompts you for the name to use. Any "Untitled" dataset means that the schematic was simulated before it was saved for the first time and assigned a name. Always make absolutely sure that you save the design for the first time before running any simulation. Saving the design after the simulation has run will not rename any dataset that has already been created.

You can also run an extra check. Again before running the simulation, in the schematic window, open the menu Simulate > Simulation Setup... and check that the name of the dataset shown is the one required or you can give it your own name here.

In ADS 2011 and later this situation will never arise. ADS now prompts the user to name the schematic cell view before the window even opens so the untitled situation is avoided.

Dear RealAEL sir,
Now I got it, without getting any untitled schematic.I followed as you said that I saved created schematic before run simulation, created schematic is appering for the creation of subcircuit.

RealAEL Sir,
Previous post it helped me lot. Can you show the link for Smith Chart utility in ADS2009 and also link for the Smith Chart utility tutorials of ADS2009 .

In any ADS schematic window select Tools > Smith Chart...

In the Smith Chart Utility window select Help > Smith Chart Utility Documentation and that contains a Step-by-Step Example.

This document is also available online.

Here you can download some ADS video tutorials including the smith chart tool

amihomo Sir,

RealAEL Sir,
I have designed low noise amplifier at 1.3GHz using transistor AVAGO ATF 54143 using AWR microwave office (AWR MWO). My quesition is same ATF54143 Agilent transistor is not availble in the ADS COMPONENT library . I have searched ATF AGILENT 54143 in ADS library, it was not present. I need that ATF 54143 transistor for designing low noise amplifier. Can we not paste data file of Avago ATF 54143 in the Installation directory> component library> models> hp_sparameters of ADS. If we paste the s-parameter and noise parameter of Avago ATF 54143 to the installation directory of ADS may that transistor be availble in the component library. Can you help me.

If you have the s-parameter data file(s) it could not be easier. No need to install anything, it can all be done in the project. In the Help pages check - Simulation Analog/RF > Using Circuit Simulators > Working with Data Files and scroll down to the section titled "Linking an .snp File to an SnP Component" for details.

Copy the device s-parameter file(s) into the data subdirectory of the project in which you would like to use the data.
In the schematic simply place the necessary SNP component from the Data Items palette. For transistor data files this would be the S2P component.

Using the Data files list... button select the appropriate s2p file for the bias circumstances you want to use.

RealAEL Sir,
As you have shown in the posting #21, I tryed , couldn't get . I read linking an .snp File , didn't get how to show the path proper path of af541433b.s2p, it was showing error( path is .\data\af541433b.s2p) I reauest you to describe elaboratly , how to show the path for the data item to get the af541433b.s2p( ATF54143, 3v, 60mA). Please help me sir, how to get the af541433b.s2p. Meanwhile I downloaded the s2p file from the avago website and shown path for the data item( s2p which is pasted on the desk top). it is working nicely. Please teach me to how to show the proper path for getting af541433b.s2p using ADS 2009.

You do not need to enter the path to the file as ADS will work it out for you. All you need to do is put the .s2p file in the correct location. That is in the data subdirectory of the project that you are using and not directly on the desktop. In you case this would be <your project name>_prj\data. The when you edit the S2P component symbol to set the s-parameter file name use the "Data files list..." button and select the file:

If it is set correctly all you will see is the name of the file as shown.
