circular polarized antenna's radiation pattern

hi,
i want to know apart from axial ratio versus frequency curve how can we predict CP behaviour from radiation pattern?i read in many papers they claim radiation pattern drawn in hfss represent CP behavior how ?plz help me in understanding it. also how to calculate front to back ratio from hfss curve i-e i can get gain in broadside direction but how to get it in backside direction?
