A minituarized uwb antenna design

Hi,
I am doing research on miniatuarization of a rectangular monopole antenna for UWB applications. I have a problem on designing using HFSS software.
I know how to use the software but my problem is how to choose parameters for the patch,substrate and ground. which formular should I use to find these parameters.
please I need help,

You can read on chapter 9 of (Broadband Microstrip Antennas By Girish Kumar, K. P. Ray). Why did you choose monopole?

thanks very much for your advise, I choosed monopole because I thought it will be easy to design.
stepped rectangular monopole if you have the design you can attach it to me.
