CMU200 location update

Hello,
I try to understand how the CMU200 perform a location update. Basically, in GSM, this is done by communicating thanks to the SDCCH logic channel, on the SDCCH physic channel.
Like this:
location update request (MS) ---> (BS)
authentification request <---
authentification response --->
location update accepted <---
However in the case of the CMU200, there are only 2 physic channels : BCCH and TCH. It seems that the location update is done on TCH. Indeed, if the TCH level is not high enough, the signaling state get stuck at "location in progress".
Thus I'm wondering if the location update process is the same, even if the physic channel (and maybe the logic) is different.
Regards,

Even GSM is an old wireless system, things are not such simple.
You have to read "GSM Air Interface" papers.
