I have designed a phase modulator(analog) at 4GHz using hyper abrupt varactor diodes.
Technique used is reflective type,using quadrature hybrids.
I have chosen hyper abrupt diodes(GaAs,gamma>1) to get higher sensitivity(radians/V).Though,
I achieved ) 0.7 rad/Vpp sensitivity but at the expense of higher distortion,more than 5% and higher AM%.
My system cannot tolerate distortion higher than 5% and AM% must be less than 5%.
I am looking for a compensation circuit,which can reduce this distortion and AM%to great extent ,say 1-2%.
Please see the attached picture of the circuit scheme used.
I request experts to throw some light on available techniques ,which can be used for compensating
the distortion and AM%.I need some tested practical solutions to resolve this issue.
