Hi All,
I've calculation question related to the total losses of directional coupler. I want to calculate it only by using scattering parameters (s11, s12, s13 and s14). How can I do it, if I know following values:
s11 = -20dB
s12=s13 = -3dB
s14 = -15dB
Regards,
E.

Your coupler has no losses - it generates power!
-3dB transmitted to ports 2 and 3: 50% of incident power per port
-20dB reflected at port 1: 1% of incident power
-15dB transmitted to port 2: 3.2% of incident power
---------------------------------------------------------------
Total transmitted and reflected = 104.2% of incident power
Your S-parameters are not accurate. Is this from a simulation with no losses?
