How can I model the DGS in IE3D
Please send me those files.
shavete: What is DGS? Can you explain?
DGS stands for Defected Ground Structure. By etching ground plane with a certain pattern, the strip lines or metal traces on the substrate can show bandstop/bandpass features.
Langxing: Thank you very much. I think defected ground plane is used much on EBG structures. You can simulate such structures efficiently and accurately on IE3D using finte ground plane modeling. You just need to use differential ports (+ and - for extension ports) and the v-localized and h-localized ports. Our latest IE3D FASTA can speed up simulation and reduce the RAM significantly for large DGP structures. Please give it a try. I am Jian from Zeland.
I simulated a DGS structure with FIDELITY, a time-domain solver also from Zeland, and obtained a good agreement with the measured results. Please see the attached picture. The structure details can be found on:
IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, <A Novel Frequency Doubler Using Feedforward Technique and Defected Ground Structure>, vol. 14, No.12, December 2004
Since IE3D is perfect for planar structures, you may expect even better result agreement.
