in the PML setup Wizard, there is the "uniform layer thickness". how should this thickness be assigned? is it related to the structure's dimension, or the wavelength? and how much does that affect the simulation's result?

I think its relation to the wavelength. I used to simuate the external Q with PML, but sometimes it get very large results.
Ansoft recommends 1/10 of the wavelength at the smallest frequency being solved for.
did you mean the 'largest frequency'?
i think it means the lowest frequency of interest. For example, when the frequency band of interest is 1 to 2 GHz ... input 1 GHz
