inductor shorted turn

Colleagues,

Inductors have something called ?shorted turn effect?. It?s usually viewed as a flaw. What is it? Why does it occur? Why is called this way?

I tried to Google it, but couldn?t find a definitive answer. If you know any reference, including paper books, please post them.
