How to implement progressive phase shift in phased array?

Hey does any one know what is the most simple and accurate way to implement progressive phase shift in phased array?Please let me know the different approaches to do that.

The most simple way to implement a phased array is by feeding each element with a different length coax that gives you the phase shift you need for that element.
To find the progressive phase shift use the equation:
beta=-kdcos(theta)
k=2pi/lamda; d = element spacing; theta = desired main lobe angle

beta is the progressive phase shift between elements (in radians)

for a more dynamic implementation you can use a varactor. try looking up a hybrid coupled phase shifter.
