I read this paper on a novel slow wave CPW structure.
The author utilizes floating metal slots underneath the CPW to increase the effective capacitance unit length.
However, I get strange results from HFSS simuation. From the simulation, the effective capacitance does not change dramatically as is mentioned in papers. But field view indicates that the E field distribution obviously changed due to metal slots. Where is problem with my simulation setup?
I also wonder how to apply wave ports. Do I need to add a perfect wave guide? I found simulation fails when wave port touches metal slot underneath.

I face same problem, even worse, I tried periodic floating metal structures, it shows no slowwave effect also which most possibly is not correct.
Anybody help pls!
Your simulation set up is absolutely wrong. It is not TEM.
