CST results question

时间:03-31 整理:3721RD 点击:
Hi,

Any idea of the meaning of left polarization and right polarization in the far field results in CST?
They are almost the same for different antenna structures.

IN CST, one can display antenna's farfield in many kinds, including polar, rectangular, left hand polarised, right hand polarised and so on.
you can try again later.

Hi,

I fully understand what you are saying.
Let me more specific: If you are simulating conical horn antenna and look for far field results, you will see same left and right hand polarization pattern.
So, is this mean that this antenna have the ability for circular polarization ?
and the ability is the same in left and right ?

What I have to see if the antenna is linearly polarized ?

Regards

As far as I know, conical horn antenna produces linear polarized wave if excited by TE11 with certain polarization. If you want to generate circular polarization, then you need to excite it with TE11 of two perpendicular polarization with phase shift Pi/2.

I think in your case the antenna is producing linear polarization, which may be decomposed into two equal magnitude circularly polarized waves one RHCP and the other is LHCP. I think CST does that and that is why you get the same pattern

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the case. Because I tried with another kinds of corrugated and dual mode horns. These horns should give dual polarization with feeding them by TE11 only. I'm sure from this point from many papers I've read.

But the problem that I can't interpret CST results to analytic meaning.
See please this post also:

It gives you may be more details about the same problem.
From the above link I've discussion with another colleague and I understood many things about ludwig 3 and how we can understand CST results. Anyway, still there is something to discuss.

Regards

Have you contacted CST support for assistance? I'm sure they'll be glad to help you.

In fact, not yet. I like to contact them when I feel there is no way unless to contact them. One of my friends tried to contact them for another things. Their reply was not that helpful. May be becasue it is sometimes difficult to explain things in writing only.

Dear abuantenna,

I am not saying you need more than the TE11, all I am just saying is that you need to excite two different polarizations of TE11 to optain circular polarization

hi adel_48 ,

I read all yur previous discussion. I was also told that only one TE11 is needed to excite the antenna which is circularly polarized.
Can you explain a bit more about how to excite two different polarizations of TE11?
thank you
