Computing Sij parameters with HFSS 10

Hi,

First excuse me for my english language, I'm French... ;)

I'm simulating Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) with an incident plane wave as source in HFSS 10. One month ago I had the 9.2 version and that's true that the 10 version is better for this type of structures but I have a problem. I can only plot the Sij magnitude or real part. The phase or imaginary parts are always equal to zero. Someone from Ansoft told me those functions haven't benn made... :( As each functions (plot |S11| for example) has its equivalent with the Field Calculator, I would like to know how computing the Sij parameters (real AND imaginary parts or magnitude/phase parts) with the Field Calculator (step by step if possible)

Another question : with an incident plane wave I can only choose "Discrete" or "Interpolating" for the frequency sweep. With "Discrete" the simulation is very long (among 24 hours for a very simple structure). With "Interpolating", the simulation is very faster (approximately 1 hour), but in the Field Calculator I've the impression that I can't choose a frequency different from the adaptative one...

Is there someone who can help me ?

I would like to have your .hfss files where you use the field-calc to plot what you mentioned.

As for your second question, when you do an interpolating sweep, the problem is solved for only one frequency, so it is no supprise you were not able to do calculations with more than one frequency.
Personally, I have never had a good experience with the interpolating sweep. It is difficult to determine what the frequency should be.
My solution is use discrete sweep and left the machine run over the weekend.
Than at least you have all the solutions.

Even with the discrete sweep, the field data is only saved for one frequency, the first frequency to be solved.

There is an option to save fields for all frequencies - choose the "Save Fields (All Frequencies)" option when editing your sweep. This vastly increases the disk space used, which is presumably why it's not chosen by default.

Then re-run the simulation. You might have to delete the existing results folder before re-running, if HFSS sees the existing results and thinks that no more simulations need to be done.
