PCB desing at high frequency (type of PCB and track size)

Hello Sir

What should be the Track size and Type of PCB used for circuit design at high frequency (RF about 1Ghz) ?

Thank you

A typical configuration is microstrip": one signal trace over ground plane.
The track width depends on the dielectric material and thickness.

The type of PCB material depends on other factors in your design... power handling, cost, weight, trace width, etc. Rogers is a big name in PCB materials, so take a look at their High Frequency Laminates. For a simple design, you can probably get away with FR4 to keep the cost down.

If by Track size, you mean trace width, that is a function of several parameters... type of transmission line, substrate thickness and dielectric constant. Microwaves101.com is a great resource for fundamental RF circuit theory.

Here is a link to their microstrip calculator: Microstrip Calculator - Microwave Encyclopedia - MicroWaves101.com

If you want a stripline structure, there are other calculators available to compute those numbers, too.

Hello sir
Thank You for reply
I am using FR4 sheet for PCB design with Er = 4.35 . What should be track width ? 6 mils track width is ok ?

Thank You

What is the FR4 thickness between the track and the ground below?

You can use online calculators to find the right width, like this one for example: Missouri University of Science and Technology, Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory
I would advise to use the AppCAD freeware from Agilent: AppCAD
