cst absorber

Hello all,

I'm trying to simulate the performance of absorbing structures (mostly pyramids). To calculate the absorber's reflectivity I compare the reflected field at a point with that reflected by a metal plate of the same size. The point's position depends of course on the angle of incidence of the incoming plane wave. Then R=20log(FFT(absorber signal)/FFT(plate signal)).This method is described in an article (for measurements not simulations).

Data on the electrical properties of the absorbers are found in the article "Comparison of EM Absorber Used in Anechoic and Semi-Anechoic Chambers for Emissions and Immunity Testing of Digital Devices".Regarding the dimensions of the absorbers I use typical dimensions taken by spreadsheets.

My inquries:

1)Has anybody any kind of previous experience/suggestions on this topic?
2)Does anybody know where I can find other sources of data on the absorber's e and σ?Data on absorbers are thin on the ground I guess.

Thank you

Hi noob

just look at the materials library in cst there is absorbing materials
from E&Cumming look at the catalog to see if it's meet your requirements

PL

Thank you for your response,

I use v5 and I can't seem to find a suitable one.Could you please be more specific and tell me which model you had in your mind?

Anyways,I would like to ask the following.Does anybody know how to access the probe results from the VBA interpreter?I mean, they are written as .prd .prs .pra .prp files but when I do

Code:
 set res=Result1D("probe1(pw).prp")
it fails. However if copy and paste the file adding a .sig extension then

Code:
 set res=Result1D("probe1(pw).prp.sig") works ok.
But I hope there is a better way than having to copy all the needed files by hand.

Hi noob

You have an example in the example directory of absorber.

For your Q? just choose box shape then click "esc" you get dialog box
down in this box there is material line. pick the black arrow and from
the materials choose library. Then look for material you need.

PL

hi can u tell me about how u model it in cst ? i m also doing FYP on it...plz help...

Hey Plasma,

Am I right that the elecromagnet parameter are not visible in CST? I am able to choose different absorbing material, but Er and tan_delta is not shown. Its confidential, right?

Thanks

Its dispersive material. a dispersion list is available in cst.
