HFSS. Plot Near field on 2D surface
Dear friends. I have a planar microwave structure (fig.) and I want to know how is the near field looks like on the surface of this structure? How I can do that?
I did several things:
1) I used Near field Setup but I cant get the data for 2D distribution I only can get 3D plot
2) I can plot E and H fields on the surface, but I am interested will 2D Near field plot look different then E field distribution on the surface
Hope for an early response
Thank you very much
The radiated field cannot be calculated on the surface. Radiated fields are generated around the structure.
Thank you for your response
Ok. But isn't it possible to plot radiated near-field on the parallel surface to the planar structure, on 10 or 100 micrometer distance for example?
I dont think there is a quick way to plot on 2D plane. You can create several polylines and plot near fields on them. One possible way could be is to use the electric field and magnetic field and calculate radiated fields yourself.
I have never used the "Near field Setup", so I am not sure how that even works. It might be that you don't want to actually use that setup. If I understand you correctly, you just want to plot the e-field in a plane above the surface resulting from "scattered" field right? If you used a plane wave excitation, then this would be very easy (without "near field setup"). In that case all you would have to do is select "scattered" under "edit sources", then define a plane above your surface (a non-model sheet) and plot Emag on this surface in fields overlays. Whereever you define the plane will be where the e-field is plotted. What you are doing seems slightly different and I don't know what you need the "near field setup" for, so this may not apply and, again, I am not sure at all how the "near field setup" works...
