High frequency Ferrite Transformer design

Dear all

I am looking to search for designing high frequency Magnetics.

i am able to design a area Product(Ap) as per the calonel maclyman.

But for selecting core, there is no AP Value charts in the core.

I'm assuming that you are referring to the author, "Colonel Wm. T. McLyman" :

The term Ae that you found at the TDK datasheet is the core sectional area, whereas the Ap found on the book is the product of the Ap area by the utilization of the winding surface.

that's Colonel ( sounds like kernel) Bill McLyman (good Scottish name)


Consider 75% copper fill until you specify winding design +/-10% variance.

where i will area product of core in the datasheet..?
so i can choose a core for my flyback transformers

The most widely criterium adopted for choosing the ferrite size is the Ae parameter ( which in the above datasheet is equal to 32.1 mm2 ). You can determine its value by using a step-by-step procedure which can vary a few from an author to another.

Although it is possible to find on the web online tools which do that, you can take a look here to understand the factors that more affects the selection :

shall i consider the same Ae= 32.1 mm2as ap(Area Product) for calculations taking reference from Calonel Books..?

I did not made any calculation, but although you can find different literatures showing slightly different calculations due each one include different amount of factors and tolerance , in general all these procedures converge to a result quite similar, therefore it would be expected that based on this other link you find an area not too much different.
