Mode matching method to solve step discontinuities

Hi,

I've just started to do research on mode matching method. I need use it to solve step discontinuities of waveguide. But I've nerve used matlab.

Can anybody give me some matlab script using for mode matching to solve these kind of problem or recommend some matlab books, articles?

You may also want to investigate the "method of lines." This is essentially a mode matching technique, but the modes are calculated numerically instead of analytically.

Here are two papers on the method of lines. I think you will find that Mode Matching and Methods of Lines are essentially the same thing, but this label will give you key words to find many more papers.
