hello:
I try to code ADI (Alternating direction implicit ) FDTD,
so I code 1D ADIFDTD in free space first.

My program simulate a gaussian pulse propagate in free space and the BC is used periodic BC( the wave which propage to right will appear from left side).

In my program , the pulse wave can propagate outwards from the source point,and the time step( dt) can larger than original (around 1.25 times).

However a peculiar error happens, the wave will "decay" when it propagates.

I really don't know where's wrong. Does anybody know what kind of error can result it?

thanks a lot.

this is my code

Code:
%
% ADI FDTD 1D test
% one dimension wave wave propagate toward x and polarize in z direction(
% Ez Hy )
% by sai1ormoon
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
% the adi algorithm is
%
%  t->t+1/2
%  update Ez (implicit)
%  update Hy (explicit)
%  set periodic BC
%
%  t+1/2->t+1
%  update Ez  (explicit)
%  add source
%  update Hy (explicit)
%  set periodic BC
%
%

I guess the periodic boundary condition is not correct.
Ez(1)=Ez(Nx)-->Ez(1)=Ez(Nx+1);
