I need help: HFSS, UNITE a sheet and a 3D (filled) cylinder
I don't know if this is a limitation of HFSS but:
I have a sheet (assigned: Finite-Conductivity because you cannot assign a material to a sheet).
Then on the surface of that sheet, I draw a (filled) cylinder (assigned: PEC or Perfectly electric conductor).
When I go to Boolean, the UNITE function is Disabled (Substrate / Intersect / Split / Separate Bodies are not disabled).
How do I unite those two structures ?
Thank you so much
you cannot unite them.
in addition, when you unite two objects, their properties becomes the same!
for example, when you select a cylinder which is plexiglass and a box which is metal, then unite, new object becomes plexiglass! (if you select cylinder first)
same should be valid for assignments.
The boolean operation should be used for two or more objects, which is the same as other drawing software.
Dear friends,
I'd like to state my question again:
Can I unite a sheet and a cylinder to have a 3D structure.
OBVIOUSLY, EVERYONE knows when you unite 2 structures, they will both have the same properties !
You cannot unite a 2D structure and a 3D structure.
maybe what you can do is assign a very low thickness
to the sheet, or in other words, make it a box with
a very low thickness and then unite.
costox,
I wrote above "YOU CANNOT!"
isn't that obvious?
in addition, if you make it too thin, it may create another problem during meshing!
