Body of revolution

Go to any introductory calculus book and you will see numerous examples.

Basically think of a two dimensional shape (in a plane). Now rotate the shape around some axis and look at the three dimensional shape that is formed. That shape is a body of revolution.

Think of the relation between a circle and a sphere for example. Rotate a sphere around a diameter and a sphere is formed.
