time feko
I am a newbie with FEKO here, please can you tell me about modeling lightning strike.
I would like to make a simulation by FEKO, but I am wondering if I can use AI card or AV card or just a voltage source card (A1 or A2).
what should I use for :
1. direct lightning strike (strike on the building)
2. distance lightning strike (strike nearby the building for example)
thanks and regards
Alec
Cook something around with Tesla Coils initially.
Hi Djalli, what does it mean?
shoud I model Tesla coil with Feko for this problem?
can you explain it to me more detail?
I am using TIme feko to simulate a distance lightning, and I am using Double Exponential Impulse for the shape of the wave source.
what should I use for the source?
Sorry if my question is too basic for you.
Regards
Alec
Hi probably I don't know software You are using but maybe I'll be able to help a little...
I can tell You how we did it using quite old Artech House software "AWAS"
AWAS has a limitation (not one of them) that EM simulation were done at value 1 of excitation - no matter what You set for any port ... so ...
first - You have to obtain fourier's points for frequencies - obtained by fourier analysis of 8/20 strike for example...
Those parameters we used as "wages" for values of E-M field for specific frequencies...
Next there were a simulation of structure (building etc. ) - for example to simulate lightning current injected into the building structure - we used big "U" shaped (inverterd) loop ... one point at the ground level - second point connected to the building...
after simulation - all you need is to "add geometrically" levels of E-M filed for each point in space - using previously obtained fourier parameters for each frequency ...
then You have a 3D plot - for example: on X - time, Y - selected geometrical parameter /have to get 2 others as constats of course/ Z - field value as calculated...
Probably this won't help You in straight - but will give You example how we dealt with this kind of problems ...
All matrix calculations and file processing were done in Matlab which is great for that usage...
regards...
ps. ... (Removed by moderator. Don't use offesive language).
This is a link about lightning parameters: timing, voltage, current, power, etc.

I think would be hard to put these values in a simulator, and probably you will never get the right breakdown path.
