mw office microstrip models

Hello.

can somebody indicate which microstrip models this mwoffice software handles?.

I mean, in microstrip does in includes the effect of metallic shielding cover or multiple metallizations?, does it includes suspended substrate stripline?, does it includes finlines?.

Maybe there is a brochure describing these points, can someone give a link?

Hi dowjones,

MWO has a terrific library to support microstrip designs and other planar transmission lines, multiconductor and multilayer as well. For all basic topologies you also have a choice of discontinuities models. It also includes so-called smart cells, e.g. if you connect smart step between two microstrip lines of unequal width, you don't have to specify any parameter for it. Also, an EM based discontinuities are included that are build for any substrate to the highes degree of accuracy by systematic EM simulations so after it is finished you use have 100% accurate steps, Ts etc for your particual design as any other model based on closed form expressions (comming with several percentage errors and limited by specified ranges of validity). Considering your interest, only fin lines are not there.
