How to export HFSS's 3D model file to AutoCAD2004?
I'm using HFSS 9.0 now and I want to export my HFSS 3D model file to AutoCAD2004,
but it seems that HFSS 9.0 doesn't support .DXF(I don't have HFSS 9.2)
I can just export my HFSS's file as .sm2, .sm3 only,
Could anyone plz tell me how to convert HFSS's file into AutoCAD,thanks a lot!!
Best Regards
Daniel
hello,
I am an ocasional autocad user and, up to my knowledge, the dxf format is only used for 2D drawing, not 3D. If you want to import to autocad a 3D drawing, i think you must use ACIS (*.sat) format or 3d studio. Check HFSS to export one of those

Hi,
1) Export it in ASCI(*.sat) format (Version 2 recommended)
2) in AutoCAD create new draw and use insert/Asci command from toolbar menu to import it.
But you must now that your 2D object are in ASCI format and you can't modify its bondary.( for this, "explode" it )

I do believe dxf also alows export into 3 D.
Hello,
I must apologise in case my reply caused some inconvenience. It is true that dxf in Autocad versions R14 and 2000 from autocad saves 3D information. I have just checked it (I was wrong on this becuase I use to save in dxf-R12, which is useful only for 2D).
In any case I keep my previous suggestion of using sat files to import export from EM softwares to/from Autocad.
