One of my friends asked me for suggestions on which brand of E&M simulator his company should buy. Here is the situation.
1. The company has skilled engineers with no experience in these types of simulators. They will be learning from zero using the program examples and manuals.
2. They want to determine two things:
a. The far field pattern of a p.a.t.c.h antenna with under 1% relative error at all angles from the normal up to 60 degrees. That is, within a cone with half angle of 60 degrees.
b. The effects of a hidden via connecting two asymmetrical striplines. These are formed from two metal layers between two ground plane layers.
3. Later on they will use it for other situations.
