3-D Static EM Simulator!
I'd like to simulate the 3-D static (or change slowly) electric field
for the device. Some electrodes will put into the medium and I want to
get the electric field data in 3 dimension.
There are many software for EM simulation. Can you give me some idea
which one is suitable for this task? Thanks in advance.
Scott
There are RF / Microwave software packages that are great for
3D sims (HFSS, Microwave Office, CST, and others) , But the
easiest way would be but using Matlab. If you know all the
equations for you model then is all you need to do is learn about
matlab's plotting functions. Also Femlab is a spin of off Matlab
geared twards physics applications. You can find many example
files on Matlab's web site.
Hope this helps
Thank you. I will check FEMLAB later.
However, I think the software you mentioned above are more concerned about RF area. Could you give me some idea if we are supposed to do EM simulation in low frequency?
Maybe U can try Equipotential surfaces High school edition
Equipotential.surfaces v3.23
M@tlab/Femlab is a good choise. You can also use the CST-EM Studio.

How can you define static charges in CST-EM?
I have used Equipotential.surfaces v3.23. However, it is too simple for our
design. We need a software which can output the 3-D electrostatic field
data. I am trying ANSYS now. Maybe it is a good choice, :)
