Symmetric Spiral Inductor in HFSS problem
I'm trying to simulate a symmetrical inductor in HFSS.
The results I get are far from reality. I am sure I am doing something wrong with my waveport setup.
I really appreciate your help in solving the waeport isse.
My freq of operation is 28GHz.
I have attached the hfss file.
thanks,

Hi,pitch1893
I think your waveport setup is wrong, because the two port is very close to each other, the waveport is not proper for this structure, i suggest you to use the lump port .Regards.
Thanks ProjectD,
I used LumpedPort. Now I have another problem which is I don't know how to connect the ports to ground?
could you help me with that also?
thanks,
-Ali
Hi,
It's depending on the configuration you want to use the spiral (single ended or differential).
By connecting it with differential excitation you may use only one port between the spiral terminals.
by connecting it with a single ended excitation you need to define the ground reference surface(could be perfectE surface) and connect each port between the spiral terminal and the reference surface.
Regards
Waveport should be defined on the entire surface-a planar cut of your 3D structure. Can't have two waveports on the same surface.
