MANDATORY UPDATE TO RELEASE 10.8.5.0 OF THE FLEXLM LICENSE MANAGER
------------------------------------------------------------------
To take advantage of all the new functionality in OrCAD 16.0, you must update
your FLEXlm license manager software to the latest release 10.8.5.0.
To update to FLEXlm release 10.8.5.0, perform the following steps:
1. In the Windows Control Panel, use the Add/Remove Programs utility to
uninstall the old "Cadence License Manager".
NOTE: If your existing license uses a network adapter card, you can jump
to Step 4. If your existing license uses a dongle (either black for a
parallel port or green for a USB port), continue to Step 2.
2. In the Windows Control Panel, use the Add/Remove Programs utility to
uninstall the "Globetrotter FlexID Drivers". (This may require a reboot.)
3. On Disk 1 of the OrCAD Product CD set, locate the folder FLEXlm\flexid and
run "FLEXidInstaller.exe". Select Flexid8 if you are using the black
parallel port dongle or select Flexid9 if you are using the green USB
dongle.
NOTE: Once the driver installation is complete, you will be prompted to
reboot. You must reboot the machine before using these drivers. Flexid8 is
NOT supported on Enterprise Vista.
4. On Disk 1 of the OrCAD Product CD set, run "setup.exe" from the root
directory. Continue with the full installation of the Cadence License
Manager.
WARNING: The installer will automatically add the programs in this release
to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list for Windows Vista and Windows XP
SP2, at the end of the installation process. If you do NOT want the
installer to do this, you must run "setup.exe" from a DOS Command Prompt
window with the following switch:
setup.exe -nofirewallexceptions
5. When the license manager installation is complete, continue by installing
the OrCAD products.

NOTE: If you are prompted to reboot, reboot the machine and login with the
administrator privileges login id to successfully complete the
installation.

for Windows, Version 16.0" (OrCAD_install_guide.pdf), which is located on Disk 1
of the OrCAD Product CD set.
