touchstone s11

Hello Everyone,

I want to save my s-parameter measurement date in touchstone s2p file format from s-parameter network analyzer and use the files in ADS to generate spice model.

Can anyone tell me how to do it?

I followed the instructions on the VNA manual and I generated files with extension .s1 and .s2 but ADS is not recognizig them.

sure you using data in ASCII-format ?

older hp8753 have differ format compare to 'standard' S-parameters and needs rearranger order and possible recalculate value (for example from retangular to polar) to make wanted reading order in simulate programs

display small part begining of .s1 width headers and few lines of values so I can se if 'old' type or not - and is always full readable in ASCII-format.




I not possible make complete spice-model from S-parameters ie. S-parameters is linear model for one specific DC-BIAS-feeding and used signal stength in measure.

however- you can try using optimize on guessed network compare to S-parameter block in bridge (to near full cancelering) for make linear ekv. of measured S-parameter block. Calculate you need spend lot of time to build 'simple' spice-models and is only valid linear model of VNA measure situation of DUT. different signal level and/or different BIAS-network make different measure and different model.

Is not easy to make complete spice model...

Here are first few line from .s1 file.

First column is frequency and the other are S11,S12,S21 and S22

ADS has some options to generate spice model. There are some topology choices like Lumped PI-network model, loss-less transmission, N-section ladder etc. The only problem is it accepts only .snp or dataset files.
