Hello,
Could someone provide a document or paper discussion what dictates the maximum allowable scaning angle for a phased array.
I can not seem to find what mechanism it is that puts a limit to the allowable scanning angle.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!

Google the term "grating lobes" to find one limit.
What if the radiating elements are no longer isotropic?
For example, if the beamwidth of the individual radiating element is 30 degree, that must affect the maximum scan angle also right?
What's the relation for this?
The final radiation pattern will be the product of the individual radiators and the array factor (what it would be with isotropic radiators).
Thanks! I think I understand what's going on now. Great!
