How to choose the correct antenna for transmission and reception of signals
There are a number of questions you have to consider about. The frequency, broadband or not, gain, polarization, suitable dimensions, environmental conditions, application …
All of those parameters could lead you to the answer about the right antenna for you.

1) what frequency is your gear operating on ?
2) what is the gear ?
3) what range (distance) are you looking at being able to cover ?
4) Is it point to point or a spread out coverage thats needed ?
5) what power level is the transmitter mW or dBm ?

do you want point to point and if so what sort of distance ?
or do you wantr omni directional and again what's the coverage area going to be ?
