RF SMA connector specs
Could someone please explain what is meant by:
1. Passivated Body of a connector - how does this parameter affect the performance.
2. "Center conductor is Captivated"
I came across these while going through some SMA connectors guides.
Thanks.
Passivated body--means it is plated with something, and will not rust easily.
Captivated center contact--means the center pin or socket is firmly held in the teflon insulator portion, and is not free to rotate around.
Hi
The Pasivated body ,for example its material is pasivated stainless steel.
Captivated center contact ,no loose parts to handle, assembly is just trimming the cable, inserting the cable into the body assembly, and soldering the cable jacket to the connector body.

Anyone can tell me what is the functions of SMA connector in antenna? it is receive signals?
thanks..
It's a coaxial connector, typically with a 50 ohm impedance, good up to around 18 GHz. Signals can pass in either direction, since it's a simple, passive connector. They are made in a variety of types for terminating coax cables, to bulkhead connectors with a center pin, or board-edge connectors for sliding it onto a PCB.

Yes ,the SMA connector is just coax connector. It is one kind of the common coax connector.
It is just the connection to fix the device with the antenna. In other words, the divice and antenna can be connected when they have the matched coax connector ,fox example TNC ,BNC ,N connector.
