Hi,
can anyone explain what is the difference between on-chip inductor and off-chip inductor?
Is it on-chip inductor is a SMT chip, while off-chip inductor is the standard bulky inductor?

On-chip inductors are those integrated within the chip.Usually these on chip inductors consume a very large portion of chip area. And poses a no. of design difficulties..usually in the range of nH.
Off-chip inductors are those outside the chip only.Doesnt mean bulk alone.Usually due to space constraint only its placed outside.
