hello i have simulated a ultra bandwidth antenna but i m confused to calculates its gain.
i did this
HFSS>results> create far field reports>rectangular plot then a small windows arrives
in solution> sweep>trace> primary sweep>freq> all
then catagory>gain>quanitity>total gain>function>db
then in families > Theta = 360 and phi =0 then > new report.
and i get the new plot which give me gain from 2 dB to 3dB only.
now i done another pthing
HFSS>results> create far field reports>rectangular plot then a small windows arrives
in solution> sweep>trace> primary sweep>freq> all
then catagory>antenna params,quanitity>peak gain,function>db
then in families > Theta = 360 and phi =0 then > new report.
and i get the new plot which give me gain from 4 dB to 10dB only.
so which one is right
peak gain or the total gain
thanks

The peak gain is the maximum gain of your antenna.
And the total gain is the gain in the given direction.
Your results indicate that Theta=360 and Phi=0 isn't the direction of your maximum gain.
You can plot a 3d diagram for one frequency and check the gain figure for the direction of the maximum gain.
