Factors affecting the data transmission in the cable and other medium

Hello guys

I want to know the factors affecting the transfer or transmission of the data in the cable or other medium and I want to analyse those factors.

Actually during googling I found that the with the increase in the cable length the bits transferred per second decreases , also with the variation in the medium or any characterstics of the cable the reflection of the data takes place and also how the cable introduces the noise in it and how EMI and other parasitic effects the transmission of data.

I want to know all the possible factors especially parasitic and how can I cure them what are the basics of those effects i.e. how they are generated and many others.

Now I want to ask you people that is there any book for it , I know there is no book covering all the factors and parameters in one.

but there would be some collections from where I can get these informations so I want help from you guys if you have books related to this in your knowledge please post the name of those in this post.

As you said, the factors that affect youre transfer functions are many. You should have in consideration also the medium parameters, like permitivity, permeability , conductivity(read about them).It will be useful to learn about transmision lines, a very important topic in the transmision of RF signals and not only.
