PA for TX and RX in PCS
I am looking for a PA for PCS (range 1850-1990 MHz).
I need to amplify both RX and TX channels (I am building a repeater)
One more requirement from the PA : I need it to be able to output 3W (35dBw)
Can you recommend me suitable amplifier ?
thanks,
Amirke
This power level can not be handled with Integrated Circuits unless a very special package and configuration has been considered.
To my knowledge, discrete components are used in base stations for amplification purposes.Bur RX channel can be amplified easily with an RFIC or simple LNA.
I didn't understand your answer.
Where can I find a PA for 1850-1990 MHz with output power of 3W ?
Normally Base Station Power Amplifiers are realized with discrete components but this company manufactures some PAs for that power level.

Hi,
Realy poor documentation for this company
And they can not be bought in the big online distributors (digikey etc...)
Can't find something close to 3W.
How can you work with them ?
Have you worked with them ?
Does anyone have something to say about this vendor ?
This company is known well in celullar world.
Don't be afraid, many cellular phones use their PAs..
OK.
I searched all the PA at skyworks.
No one is over 28 or 30 dBw.
I need 35dBw (3W)
Any other suggestion ?
You can use some Japan vendor Amp, that can reach 80W or more.
Thanks, but I do not need this amount of power.
3-4W is enough. preferably from a 3.3 - 5V Power supply
If you add a final output stage with a single RF Power Transistor with 5-6dB gain to an Power Amplifier Module, you can obtain an Amplifier Chain for your application.
For this purpose, see GaN RF Power Transistors.
thanks,
Can you give me such a reference application where RF power transistor is cascaded after Power amplifier.
Have a look here:

To find a PA for DCS/PCS with +35dBm output power is very challenging, because the system requirements for these bands is +30dBm at antenna connector.
All the GSM/DCS/PCS PA's have the efficiency optimized at maximum output power, and the system efficiency will decrease if the peak power at the output of the PA is much different than power at antenna connector (35dBm vs 30dBm). There is some post PA insertion loss allowed, but this is in a range of 1dB-2dB maximum, in PCS band.
