Microwave filter design
I'm working on the application of multiobjective genetic algorithm for the design of microwave filters. I'm wondering if there are any resources that give relationships between the s-parameters of (say microstrip) filter configurations and their geometric parameters and frequency. If not, are there any open source EM solvers that I could link to my GA code to perform the s parameter evaluation.
u can use hfss GA for your aim and if u want u can load hfss with matlab in each part of your GA matlab can call the HFSS for optimization
and i cant understand what do u mean by telling the relation of s parameter and GA ?
He also said he wanted an open-source EM solver. That rather rules out the horrendously expensive HFSS. Options open seem to be
MEEP,

OpenEMS
http://openems.de/index.php/Main_Page
and emGine
http://www.petr-lorenz.com/emgine/
which while not open source, is free (to a certain extent anyway).
emGine looks the most impressive, but when I tried it, the program crashed almost immediately.
I'm also interested to hear anything about the design of microstrip filters.
If I know the relationship between the filter's geometric parameters and it's s parameters (or what ever parameters: h, z or y or ABCD) then I can use my genetic algorithm code directly without having to use an EM solver.
if u have the equivalent circuit u can simulated it with out em software in matlab
